Current awards & travel grants
Spring Meeting Travel Awards
These awards give financial support to student members of the Society, to facilitate their participation at the Society's annual Spring meeting.
The next Spring and Malaria meeting will be held in Cardiff in 2010. The application deadline is January 6th 2010
The following rules apply to these awards:
- Applicants must be members of the BSP at the time of application. For first year students, an application to join the BSP must be submitted before or when applying for support.
- Each application form requires a statement of support from the student's supervisor.
- The applicant must be presenting an oral paper or poster at the conference. First year PhD students are exempt from this rule.
- The financial support of the BSP should be acknowledged in any talk or poster presentation made by the student at the meeting. Council considers this to be important because this allows BSP membership to see how Society funds are being used.
- Support is provided to PhD students and to students who have completed their studies but are currently writing up their thesis. No support can be provided to people employed on postdoctoral grants.
- A maximum of £200 will be provided to each applicant for each meeting.
- A maximum of £50 will be provided to each student during the course of his or her PhD under this scheme. Students working towards a PhD on a part time basis over more than 3 years should contact the Hon. Treasurer if they wish to apply for support to attend additional meetings.
- Applications should be made on the form below and should be sent to the Hon. Treasurer.
Completed application forms should be sent to the Hon. Treasurer by January 6th 2010

BSP Autumn Symposium - Progress in Paediatric Parasitology
23rd September 2010
The BSP Autumn Symposium 2010 will be held on 23rd -24th September 2010 at Durham University's Queens Campus in Stockton on Tees. Run in conjunction with the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, we are stretching the programme over 2 days beginning after lunch on the 23rd and finishing after lunch on the 24th. This approach is being taken to allow people travelling from a distance to spend just one night away from home whilst being able to attend an evening social event. The talks will be given by invited speakers and we will also run a poster session.
